MailerLite Review (2026): Free Plan, Comfort vs Power Pricing
TL;DR
MailerLite is a general email marketing tool with a free-forever plan. After the June 16, 2026 update, Free covers up to 250 active subscribers and 2,500 monthly emails, with 3 automations, 3 forms, 1 landing page, 1 website (up to 5 pages) and 2 user seats. Comfort starts at $12/month and Power at $25/month (subscriber tiers scale the price); Comfort caps sends at 10× the subscriber-tier ceiling, Power includes unlimited sends under a fair-use policy. It suits small businesses and creators who want forms, landing pages and automations in one place. Writers building a media-style newsletter with ads and paid subscriptions fit beehiiv better; email-first creators selling products often prefer Kit.

Free plan details (post–June 16, 2026)
According to MailerLite's Free plan FAQ, the June 16, 2026 update cut the subscriber ceiling from 500 to 250 and monthly sends from 12,000 to 2,500, while unlocking custom campaign and landing-page templates, blogs, promotional pop-ups and the HTML editor on Free. Seats went from 1 to 2. If you pass 250 active subscribers, campaign and automation sending pause until you upgrade or shrink the list.
Where MailerLite is strong
- Free forever path for tiny lists, with real automations and a site/landing page included.
- Clear Comfort vs Power split: pay for list size and send volume, not a maze of feature gates on paid plans.
- Creator extras: digital products, bookings, paid newsletters and e-commerce integrations on higher plans.
- EU data center and GDPR controls, per MailerLite's pricing FAQ (useful if you care about EU hosting).
Where it's weaker
- Free list size is small after the 2026 cut (250 vs Kit's free 10,000 or beehiiv's free 2,500).
- Not a publication network. No built-in ad network or recommendation marketplace like beehiiv.
- API/MCP sending on Free is limited and does not include sending, per MailerLite's FAQ.
